The Brilliant Corners

The explosion of British music in the mid-80s gave birth to a lot of bands which were associated with the C86, anorakpop or simply indiepop movements. One of the most representative, as well as prolific, examples of these was the Bristol-based The Brilliant Corners.

The early years of this band came before that pop explosion, recording a few singles and a couple of mini LPs (‘Growin Up Absurd’ and ‘What’s in a Word’) for their own label SS20, with which they started to have a certain success thanks to the song ‘Brian Rix’. They released their first album on McQueen Records: ‘Somebody Up There Likes Me’, which was even edited on Spain by DRO. Also on McQueen they recorded ‘Joyride’, ‘Hooked’ and ‘A History of White Trash’. Many compilations later have reflected their own distinctive style, with Davey’s powerful voice upfront, the unmistakable trumpet and the funny lyrics. The latest and most complete of these is the double CD ‘Heart on Your Sleeve: A Decade In Pop 1983-1993’.

They arrive to Madrid on this tour celebrating their 30th anniversary to offer us all their hits, from Brian Rix to Meet Me on Tuesdays, Forever, Oh!, Teenage or Delilah Sand. A guaranteed success.
