Alpaca Sports are one of the Swedish pop sensations of the decade. Their songs (very few, still) have already gone worldwide at dizzying speed, turning Alpaca Sports into one of the most listened indiepop bands on the Net. Andreas Jonsson and Amanda Akeman’s project began to be known early 2012 with the catchy and beautiful ‘Just for Fun’. Andreas’ sweet voice, Amanda’s chorus and an impeccable melody remind us of early Acid House Kings , the shiniest tunes of Brighter or the elegance of The Hit Parade.
Their first single came fast: on March they published ‘Just for Fun’ and ‘I’ll never win’ on the Swedish label Luxury and on Dufflecoat Records. Behind a careful presentation by the amazing Japanese illustrator Ray Kimura there lay the first two songs by the Gothenburg’s duet. On May, the Peruvian label Susy Records released the songs compiled in this 7” on a CD 3”, again behind a beautiful cover by Ray Kimura.
In case anyone hasn’t heard of them yet, in June their tender and naïf video for ‘She’ll come back for Indian Summer’ was released, with which they finished conquering the hearts of all the indiepop lovers who did not know them yet. In August 2012 their second single appeared: ‘I was running’, repiting record label and cover designer. The songs: equally adorable. They’ve already played live in Sweden, Paris, Roma, Milan… In November they’ll be playing in London and they could not be missed on Madrid Popfest’s third edition, where they will be presenting the new songs which are going to be included on a Cloudberry Records’ 7” in December. Not to be missed.
